About me
Hi, I'm Van.
I write about Japan, language learning, digital nomad life, AI, and the idea of building a sustainable one-person company.
A few years ago, I spent time in the startup world, building projects, pitching ideas, and learning how fragile growth can be when everything depends on constant effort. That experience gradually led me to a different question:
How can an ordinary person build a life that is resilient, meaningful, and sustainable over the long term?
Today, I am living in Japan and documenting what I observe along the way.
Some posts explore Japanese society and culture—from railway enthusiasts and aging communities to everyday life in supermarkets and coffee shops.
Others focus on language learning, digital nomadism, passive assets, AI tools, and the systems that help individuals navigate an increasingly uncertain world.
This is not a news site.
It is a collection of notes, observations, experiments, and reflections.
If there is a common theme behind everything here, it is probably this:
A better life is rarely built overnight. It is usually built slowly, through curiosity, learning, and small decisions repeated over time.
Thank you for reading.
Welcome aboard.
— Van
